There’s no clever title for these.

Yeah, it’s those cheesy flower pens from ten years ago. I like to think these are cooler ‘cuz they’re cherry blossoms and the ribbons are trendy.

Today’s lesson is about shooting bright, moving lights at night. Check out Jim’s Flickr, too, as he is the real mad scientist. He’s got tons of animal pics from our last four-trips-in-three-weeks to the JaxZoo. Rawr!

Blue Eggs and Ham

Thursday, March 22nd, 2007
That’s the post-Christmas clearance feather wreath finally making it’s first appearance on our front door. The eggs, of course, came from Dollar Tree. They were on sticks, which I popped off fairly easily, then I had to drill some holes with an exacto knife so I could wire them to the wreath. They look just as if they’d been laid on there by a blue chicken.

and the invites that love them…

The image of the woman came from the cover of some antique sheet music, and the floral motif is the same one I used on my programs – I really like it and it can be made into fun patterns. I was lucky enough to find some 12×12 striped paper that matched the colors almost exactly; this was used for the envelopes and the seals. I am now an envelope making machine! I used my Xyron, cute dollar store stickers and my brand new circle cutter to complete the seals.

Satisfying my inner tween

Yet another Dollar Tree project (I really should change the name of this blog, or at least get some sponsorship dollars.) With the whole monogram fetish still going strong on The Knot, I squealed when these little wooden letter sets appeared at DT. Then i found out Wal-Mart has had them the whole time and for a few pennies cheaper, which tends to add up when your name is long, like mine. Wal-Mart also had cuter bases, but whatever. Cute does seem to be best descriptive word here, too. Usually I eschew projects that are “cute” but I think the font of the letters warped my brain a little - I’m 31 but this looks suited for child’s room. It’s going on my desk at work anyway.

I must admit I found the whole painting thing pretty relaxing, and since I started this project several months ago I’ve bought a few other wood projects to play with, so stay tuned. Happily, I also got to use up some old wedding supplies, like the rhinestones, the vellum and…uh, the colors. Still not sick of looking at them!

Thoughts about what to put in the little picture frame?

Now I’m a Pro

We got a new camera. It kicks ass. I’ve upgraded my flickr account. But Jim’s really got the eye in this family – his account will be upgraded soon.

Sham-Rock

Monday, March 5th, 2007

Another in my Dollar Store Wreath series. I enjoyed this one so much I made another one just like it using leftover blue, green and purple flowers from our wedding (also from the dollar store.) I had been looking for some cute shamrock accents to add to this one, but became impatient and wanted to get it on the door ASAP.
