I’m over here yelling at my computer screen because i want this room divider SO BAD – but I really  have nowhere to put it.

dividerI mean, maybe if we rearrange some things…and it’s ONLY $150…No! I can’t! Somebody please go buy it!

This Frigidaire Flair stove is pretty awesome, too:

ovenSuper space-saving! Look how the burners slide out and the over doors slide up! It’s like a crazy sportcar!

from the orange files:

sofaI have said that i’d never buy a used sofa – I have in the past, but have heard too many horror stories to push my luck again. This gorgeous set makes me want to roll the dice, baby.

bar70sAnd then there’s this bar set. How did we go from nothing cool to all this amazing stuff?

If the first bar set is a little too much for you, perhaps something a little more subtle. Look at the art on the wall, too – I wanna party with these folks.

craigslist roundup: savannah

Thursday, January 14th, 2010

Once again I had to go up to Savannah because Jacksonville was devoid of anything cool. What up, people?

tableThat table is hot, hot hot – super curvy! Though I’d be a bit shy about buying something from a person whose email address is “deadrelative.” Maybe it’s just me.

shelfGah! Wasn’t I just looking for bookshelves? For something just. like. this?!?!? Figures.

barcartFrom the same seller…a presto-chango bar cart. I don’t even know how that works, it’s completely magic. Labeled and everything – what a steal.

planterI feel like I’ve talked about this before, or at least seen it, but whatever – it’s cool enough to do twice. Spring is coming!!!

sinkI know it’s dirty, but it’s still my dream laundry room dream sink. (that’s a lotta dreaming, huh?) I’m going to have to get off my butt and get one of these before they’re all gone forever.

Just a few things that caught my eye…there hasn’t been too much exciting lately…

tableI’m a sucker for a step table, but one with inlaid tile as well? Amazing.

diningThose chairs are pretty cute, and WAIT A MINUTE…that china cabinet looks awfully familiar

Okay, these were at the Hubbard House thrift store, not Craigslist. $65 total for the set. I’d reupholster just so it wasn’t Christmas all year long, but they looked like they were in really nice shape.

too much time

Tuesday, August 25th, 2009

You know you’re spending too much time at the thrift stores when you start to recognize their merchandise elsewhere. A few weeks ago I was fawning all over this buttery dresser set at a Salvation Army:

dresserset_small

Super-duper cute! Those drawer pulls just kill me, and they were both solid and sturdy pieces. I wished I had a place for them as I’d love to have that color yellow in the living room. Once again, if I had a truck i’d be a dangerous woman! I thought about just asking for the nightstand but didn’t want to break up the set. Then last Friday I spotted the nightstand on Craigslist:

table_after

not only that, but the sellers shared what they did with the dresser (not for sale):

dresser_after

I guess they painted it a shiny,  silvery color; it’s hard to tell. But it’s good to see somebody taking care of it and using it again. I was also excited at the second chance to get the nightstand, but in the end I rationalized it away. That diamond detail is divine, but I figure it probably wouldn’t be that hard to add something similar to pieces that we own already. It will stay in the files as inspiration!

  • You may have noticed a link on the right (I hope you’ve noticed ALL the links on the right!) for “Quirky Animal Art.” Following that will take you to the wonderfully anthropomorphic world of Amber Alexander. I’d been admiring her work for a while now and finally purchased a copy of  “Stolen Cone”:

coneI’m happy to say it’s even more lovely in person. It resembles our youngest cat Slinky, arguably my favorite and the only one we’ve spoiled with human foods. If she were ever to steal an ice cream cone from us, I know she’d have exactly the same expression. Do check out the rest of Amber’s work at her etsy store.

  • Thanks to those who have alerted me, but I’m *very* aware of the new Jonathan Adler Barbie Dolls that will come out next month. I am fully prepared to elbow little girls out of the way at Toys R Us – they can have the doll, but I NEED that tiny pink lamp and vase set. Don’t even get me started on the accompanying couch.

barbieI hope my Gwen Stefani doll will fit Barbie’s dress…

  • He who hesitates is lost…I was mulling over this cute little merry go round on Craigslist for about a week:

merry-go-roundIt seems kind of silly, but I thought it would be adorable to paint it and put in a garden for a wonderful touch of whimsy. I felt too goofy to call about it, thinking it would be mean to deprive a child of a toy just for the sake of my yard. I just looked again and the listing is gone, so i hope it’s at a good home now.

hutches dutchess

Very much inspired by these desk/hutch combos on Jacksonville’s and Tallahassee’s craigslists today:

hutchesNow that i’ve been on an etsy roll and am actually  moving stuff out of my craft room, I’m looking ahead to the days when it’ll actually be FUNCTIONAL in there. Right now everything is piled up on boring, white laminate bookcases and wire racks. I’d love to get one of these frilly little combos and keep everything organized and pretty, too. I imagine it’d look something like this.

what’s in the water

Tuesday, July 21st, 2009

Jacksonville’s Craigslist was getting kind of dull, so I decided to breeze up and down the area to see what was up in Gainesville and Savannah. There were a few things of interest, but nothing like this cache of lime green midcentury furniture in Savannah:

What the? That is lime green lacquer, folks. I really wanted to call just to meet the person and see what the rest of the house looks like. It’s gotta be a SCAD student or something. See the different listings here here here here and here.

If that’s not enough, I NEED this set of Rock-afire Explosion robots:

Can you imagine the halloween possibilities?

out of pocket

in preparing for an upcoming trip to Ikea, I decided to check out the Orlando craigslist to see what it had to offer…you know, just in case we would need to plan in a side trip. Looks like Orlando is THE place for a mid-mod dining room. Sure wish I’d known that when I was struggling to find a table:

from here:

I was right about the cigarette machine; it CAN be made to distribute something much cooler. I present the Art-o-Mat series, found via WeddingbeePro:

Fantastic. Every single one.

Pam from RetroRenovation did a nice piece on some similar red patio chairs, which are apparently called “Motel Chairs” (now you know!) She’s got links to a ton of repro styles and the reader comments are full of good suggestions, too – I thought the one about protecting the bolts so they don’t rust out was really smart. It’s nice to know if I miss out on the craigslist deal (which at this point, they’re still available!) then there are other choices.

Speaking of patio furniture, there is now an interesting set up on Craigslist:

3nf3md3l2zzzzzzzzz96n6be26039825f196b

The set is a little pricey at $300, but it’s a steal compared to similar repro peices I found in the latest Metropolitan  Home:

3655089043_0b09180788Even on clearance those Anthropologie (::spit::) chairs are $150 each!

A few other craigslist items that have popped up since the last post:

3nc3k33o6zzzzzzzzz96ne88ea53c89b511ee“In the style” of Herman Miller. Close enough for me, though.

3nc3mc3l5zzzzzzzzz96ne0e1c4814c2f154eThis is my favorite kind of vintage sink. If they made them super deep (which I don’t think they did) i would have it in the kitchen immediately. As it is though, i’ve been pressuring Jim into the idea of a laundry room sink – and this would be outstanding in that capacity.

3na3k73o9zzzzzzzzz96na4d5309191aa1985I have been acquiring a lot of records lately…this stand would comfortably accomodate them and the USB turntable.

3m73p63lazzzzzzzzz96n08116a4b71be1dfaThis dining set isn’t exactly my style, but it sure is fun and looks like it’s in nice condition.
